This Telford project involved a complex redecoration task, transforming a room with outdated wallpaper and mismatched patterns into a clean, cohesive space ready for a new look. The “before” image reveals a space dominated by patterned wallpaper, which, although adding character, felt overly busy and dated. The client wanted a fresh, modern appearance, removing the old wallpaper and creating a neutral backdrop that would offer more flexibility in décor choices.
Our work began with the meticulous removal of the existing wallpaper, a crucial step to ensure a smooth base for the new finish. For this, we used professional-grade tools, including steamers and scrapers, to carefully peel away layers without damaging the wall underneath. Once the wallpaper was removed, we prepared the surfaces using Festool sanding equipment with dust extraction. This not only smoothed out the walls but also kept dust levels minimal, ensuring a clean work environment and faster setup for the next stages.
The next step was to prime the walls to cover any residual adhesive stains and ensure optimal paint adhesion. Using our Graco airless sprayer, we applied an even coat of primer, followed by a neutral, soft white paint. The airless sprayer was essential in achieving a smooth and uniform finish across the room, particularly over large wall surfaces. This technique avoids roller marks, providing a professional-grade finish that maximizes the room’s brightness and enhances its spacious feel.
With the new colour scheme, the room took on a fresh, airy aesthetic, allowing natural light to play across the walls and create a tranquil atmosphere. The white tone on the walls and ceiling provided a modern blank canvas, perfect for future decorative choices, from artwork to accent furniture.
