This Telford project involved a substantial makeover of an upper floor landing area, which had previously been left unfinished and lacked a cohesive aesthetic. The client’s goal was to create a clean, bright space that complemented the rest of the home, especially considering this area acts as a transitional space between rooms. The “before” image shows the raw, preparatory phase, with tools and materials arranged, emphasizing the work ahead.
We started by preparing all surfaces, ensuring that any rough spots or imperfections were smoothed out using Festool sanding equipment with dust extraction. This stage is essential for achieving a professional finish, as it removes any blemishes and creates a consistent base for painting. The dust extraction feature also kept the workspace clean, reducing mess and allowing us to work efficiently.

For the walls, ceiling, and wooden trims, we applied a fresh white coat using our Graco airless sprayer. This method allowed for an even, seamless application, especially beneficial in a space with various angles and tight corners around the staircase railing and door frames. The white paint not only brightened the area but also enhanced the natural light, making the landing feel more spacious and inviting.
The staircase railing was another focal point. We painted it in the same bright white as the walls, giving it a modern, cohesive look that contrasts beautifully with the warm wood tones of the door frames. Using a durable, scuff-resistant paint ensured that this high-touch area would remain in pristine condition over time, even with regular use.
The client was delighted with the transformation, noting that the landing now felt like an integral, stylish part of the home rather than an overlooked space. This project highlights the impact of high-quality tools and meticulous preparation, which together create a polished, functional area that enhances the home’s overall appeal.
