In this Telford bedroom renovation, the client sought to refresh and clean a loft-style room that had developed significant issues with ceiling and wall stains, likely due to humidity and inadequate ventilation. The initial condition, as seen in the “before” images, showed heavy discoloration, especially around the window area and the ceiling, where mould had visibly accumulated. The objective was to restore the room to a bright, clean state and ensure the finishes would withstand similar conditions in the future.
We began by thoroughly treating the affected areas to address the mould and stains. This involved cleaning the walls and ceiling with a high-quality anti-mould solution to kill any remaining spores and prevent future growth. Once the surfaces were fully sanitized and dry, we moved on to preparing them for painting.

Using Festool sanding equipment with dust extraction, we carefully sanded the ceiling and walls to remove any residual imperfections and ensure a smooth surface for painting. The dust extraction feature was crucial in maintaining a clean environment, minimizing airborne particles, which is particularly important in mould-prone areas to prevent health risks.

For painting, we selected a mould-resistant, high-durability white paint to create a fresh, clean look that would resist staining and discolouration over time. Applying the paint with our Graco airless sprayer ensured an even and seamless finish, especially useful for covering previous stains and achieving a uniform appearance across the entire room. The airless sprayer allowed for precise application, particularly in the angled areas of the loft room, which can be challenging to reach with traditional rollers.

The transformation was striking. The newly painted white walls and ceiling brought a sense of brightness and cleanliness back to the room, making it feel open and welcoming once more. The client was thrilled with the results, especially noting how the anti-mould treatment and high-quality paint provided peace of mind regarding the room’s future upkeep.
This project underscores the importance of addressing underlying issues such as mould before applying finishes, as well as the value of using specialized, durable materials in areas prone to humidity. The result is a restored, healthy living space that will remain fresh and resilient over time.
