In this Telford bedroom project, the client wanted to update their child’s room, shifting from a playful mural-style wall to a more refined, calming colour scheme suitable for a growing child. The original wall featured a cloud-like, textured blue pattern, which, while charming, no longer fit the updated aesthetic the client envisioned.
We began by preparing the mural wall for a new coat of paint. Using Festool sanding equipment with dust extraction, we smoothed out the texture to ensure a flat surface, essential for achieving a uniform finish with the new colour. This step is particularly important when covering patterned or textured surfaces, as it helps prevent any visual remnants of the previous design from showing through.
Once prepared, we applied a soft, sage green paint to the accent wall, chosen for its calming qualities and its ability to harmonize with the natural light in the room. The other walls were painted in a neutral off-white, providing a subtle contrast that enhances the room’s brightness and sense of space. For this, we used our Graco airless sprayer, achieving a smooth, even finish across all surfaces with no visible brush strokes, ideal for creating a clean, modern look.
The updated colour scheme transformed the room into a soothing, versatile space, perfect for a child’s evolving needs. The green accent wall added a touch of personality without overwhelming the space, while the neutral tones kept the room feeling open and airy. The client was delighted with the change, appreciating how the new design offered a more timeless look that would remain suitable as their child grows.
This project highlights the effectiveness of thoughtful colour selection and high-quality equipment in transforming a space to meet changing needs, creating an environment that feels fresh, welcoming, and adaptable.
